Finish what you started was the mantra that kept playing in my head the entire week as I hit this push-up challenge head on. That's right, I signed up to do 100 push-ups every day for a week. I never dreamed I would get so much out of it. Learn more as I take you through my week in summary...
Day 1 - Monday
Did you know...push-ups improve posture? One of the most common reasons for back pain is due to weak abdominal (core) muscles. Push-ups can help strengthen your core muscles which in turn help with posture.
Day 1 sets: 15 | 15 | 5 | 10 | 5 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 100
Day 2 - Tuesday
Did you know... push-ups increase upper body strength and endurance. AND stretching is extremely important.
Day 2 sets: 10 | 10 | 10| 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 100
Day 3 - Wednesday
Not liking this, wanting to give up; determined and committed not to.
Did you know... push-ups increase upper body strength and endurance. Major muscle groups, such as your biceps, core muscles, triceps, anterior deltoids and lower body muscle groups are activated to support your body while stabilizing your movements.
Day 3 sets: 15 | 15 | 15| 15 | 15 | 15 | 10 = 100
Day 4 - Thursday
Soreness is starting to subside. I'm getting stronger. Doing more reps per set. Fewer sets. Finishing earlier in the day vs. late into the night. #SUCCESS
Today was the first day I didn't feel like I wanted to give up.
Did you know... push-ups protect shoulders from injury? This is especially important for me since I have a rotator cuff injury from years ago that still flares up from time to time. Shoulder exercises help to keep that flare-ups to a minimum.
Day 4 sets: 20 | 20 | 20| 20 | 20 = 100
Feeling the strongest yet! I am able to do more reps at one time. Actually thinking about continuing next week.
Did you know... push-ups increase muscle definition? AND refreshing to do outside so you don't overheat and give up easily.
Day 5 sets: 25 | 25 | 25| 25 = 100
Day 6 - Saturday
A little strong every day!
